I am going to take my 6 year old god son to get his ear pierced. Most people say it’s wrong why. He already has the left one pierced now he wants the right on because my boyfriend has two. A little boy that stays down the street and asked his mom can he get his pierced and she comes over to see if it’s true then she tells me am i crazy for piercing his ears. What’s wrong with a little boy with and ear ring.

If he WANTS it done then I think that’s alright. If you were doing it to him just because you thought it looked cute or YOU wanted him to get them - that’s wrong.

People are just sexist, and underneath that sexism is just homophobia, I suspect. My 11y-o has his ears done (has since he was 7 and wanted earrings like his uncle) and I get loads of slack for it.
Oh well. If someone is assigning a sexual label to a kid because of metal through their ears, that is wholly their own stupidity - not mine or my son’s.
He’s your kid and no one else has the right to tell you what’s appropriate and what’s not, as far as how he can decorate his body.
If they can’t wrap their thick heads around that, better off just ignoring them in the future.
As for the white trash thing someone mentioned, we must live in different cultures - where I’m from, it’s usually younger males who care about their appearance and aren’t into the hypermasculinity of olde that do it. And I fully support my boys being like that. I don’t want to be raising Al Bundy’s.
Some chavs back in England do it, but do it so outrageously that it’s not really in the same bracket as men who have pierced ears otherwise.
Then again, we don’t really have “urban” culture here, so that might be why I’ve never had anyone associate it with white trash or ghetto culture.

My son chose what he did, and he can choose to take them out if he changes his mind; as can my daughter. I don’t see what the problem is.
Weird for a six year old boy to have piercings of any kind. Give him a chance to mature enough to make those decisions for himself. At six, he isn’t prepared to really know whether he wants it or not.
is the mother okay with you taking your Godson? i don’t see what the problem would be - it sounds more like the neighbor’s problem to me.

Because at 6 he really doesn’t know what he wants. I am sure he would eat pizza and ice cream every day if you would let him. That is why kids have parents, to set boundaries. I can’t believe his parent’s are ok with you doing this. I have heard of it once but they were identical twins, and they did it to tell them apart.
My 7 y/old an 5 y/old sons have their left ears pierced. Our family not white trash.
It’s crazy piercing both his ears …. ! Just keep it at one.

If he has asked to have it done - go for it. It is not like you are getting him tattooed. And who the heck cares what other people think anyway! I had my ear pierced (I am male) first time when I was 11, second time when I was 16 - both in left ear. (Back in that day having the right ear or both ears pierced on a guy was considered *** (not that there is anything wrong with that) lol) Now, all growed up with kids of my own, I choose not to wear any.
Edit: People seem to forget THAT IT IS ONLY A RING IN YOUR EAR. Bored with having it in, or decide that maybe you shouldn’t have had it pierced?? TAKE IT OUT!!
well i don’t think its a tragedy. but i do think parents should wait til there kid is old enough to understand better. i never got my ears pierced and i wouldn’t have wanted my mom to Peirce them when i was young. but some kids want them even when they get older. so that’s why its best to wait. but at the same time its your kid so do what you want and don’t lest other make you feel bad. every parent has different views.

Because its ***. you should take the other one out too. Dont you want him to be a good little boy? let him get piercings and tattoos when hes older and rebelious like we all were.
I don’t see a problem with it, but I personally wouldn’t let my sons do it, unless they were a lot older.

Nothing wrong with it. If he changes his mind later, all he has to do is take it out. Just as long as he know how to take care of it so he doesn’t get infections.
Could be worse: could be a tattoo. Or some aboriginal or tribal mutilation.
