What’s the story behind the industrial ear piercing?

jKayy asked:

I’m looking into getting an industrial ear piercing and I was wondering how much it costs, how badly it hurts, and how to clean it. Is it worth it? Is the pain as bad as people say? How much work is it? What’s the cost? Things like that. Any info you may have, please let me know. Thank you. :]

  1. Ear Piercing Tips

I got mine for a deal, but I think they cost about 50.00$?
Don’t take my word, I got my industrial and nose done together for 50.00 because I knew my piercer already.

It doesn’t hurt too bad. Your piercer will probably start at the lower part of your ear, that part just gets really warm. Then the top, that one hurts a bit but nothing to cry over. Personally I don’t think the pain is as bad as people say, I got my nose done after my industrial and I still wasn’t complaining.

Some people have to maintain it a lot. It depends how your body handles it, if it gets infected, if you get hypertrophic scarring, etc.
I just didn’t like how in the first month I expiereinced a Lot of crusting, so I was constantly picking at it and touching my industrial and I almost caused it to get infected. If you get a lot of a crusting please just leave it be and just clean it off when you are cleaning it daily.

I suggest cleaning it with sea salt soaks. If you don’t know how to do that just google it, I can’t remember how much sea salt goes for every cup then again I never followed that because I didn’t have any measuring thingers(:

If you get hypertrophic scarring (A bump/bubble thing that forms around your jewelry) Sea salt soaks should get rid of it, but if not, get some tea tree oil. Don’t freak out and take the jewelry out that’s not going to get rid of it.

    It is soooo worth it.
The pain is pretty bad but not unbearable. About a 7.5 on the scale.
Not much at all. Like 10 minutes a day.
    Mine cost 45$.
It is pierced at a 14g.

I got mine done when I was 14. I already had 2 lobe piercings in each ear and 1 cartliage in both ears. I didn’t think it would hurt that bad but it was definately the most painful piercing for me. The after care was real easy. At the begining (2 weeks) I did sea salt soaks on once a day and when I got crusties I used peroxide to get rid of them. (only use peroxide if you have crusties or pus). After that I didn’t really do anything to it. It never got infected just hurt like a b*tch when you bumped it. After about 4 monthes I changed the bar to a new one and everything is fine. ( I’ve now had it for 9 monthes)
